Residency Programs

Akron General Medical Center is a major teaching hospital of the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) and provides postgraduate education in ten residency programs for approximately 150 residents representing about 70 medical schools in the United States. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Akron General offers the following residency programs:

Emergency Medicine
Family Medicine
General Surgery
Internal Medicine Categorical
Obstetrics & Gynecology
Orthopaedic Surgery
Preliminary Internal Medicine
Psychiatry (NEOUCOM-affiliated program)
Transitional Year
Urology (NEOUCOM-affiliated program)

Breast Surgery Fellowship

At least that is what I told the residents when I was a program director in Emergency Medicine. However, now as Chairman of Medical Education, although the training phase and intensity is different, the underlying premise that medical education can be painless still prevails.
