Akron General Medical Center provides the resources for an excellent educational experience –- whether it's as a medical student, resident or as a practicing physician. The Kenneth Calhoun Research Laboratory is staffed by four PhDs and two MDs to help support the interests and needs of our residents, students and faculty. With the help of PACS radiology imaging systems, electronic medical records, a wireless network and specially designed Web portal, our physicians spend more time where they prefer to be – with patients.
We also know that life can be busy. That's why we provide the other facilities, services and conveniences to make things work a little more smoothly and keep our staff in step. On call quarters are stocked daily with sandwiches, fruit, sodas and milk. Free uniforms, on-site laundry services, an exercise allowance and other great benefits are also a part of the medical education experience at Akron.

Akron General Medical Library & Community Health Library
Our state of the art Akron General Medical Library provides health care professionals with free access to health-related materials and information. The Medical Library is open to all medical professionals — physicians, residents, medical students, nurses and all allied health professionals. Over 25 Internet connected (T1 line) computers ensure that Akron General healthcare professionals have resources they need to find information about specific healthcare topics.
The Akron General Community Health Library provides free access to health-related materials and information. The Library is open to the public — patients, their families and friends, visitors, hospital staff, community organizations, businesses — anyone who is seeking health information. It's Akron General's way of ensuring that the Akron community has the resources it needs to find information about specific health care topics.
