Akron General Health & Wellness Centers to Offer Flu Vaccinations

As part of an ongoing system-wide commitment to prevention and wellness, Akron General Health & Wellness Centers will be offering flu vaccinations this year. Influenza, also called the flu, is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, flu season normally peaks in January or later, with more than 200,000 people hospitalized from flu complications, including 20,000 children; and about 36,000 deaths each year. The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year.
